My Background and Experiences

My perhaps most important understanding of breaking down complexities I was lucky to get early in my career in ITT (later sold to Alcatel). Also, the understanding that when building a product, you will get a brutal test on your visions when integrating the product! Together with my excellent young colleagues in Norway we managed to pass this test. In my first years  you can find more details to this phase.

From my time in Munich with Siemens and Nokia Siemens i learnt to live in a large worldwide organisation in the Mainstream telecom industry. It took some time for me to adapt to such a huge organisation having so far been used to the small organisation. It was, however, very fascinating to learn how the strategic technical decisions were made and the effect of these. The telecom industry in these years went through a tough consolidation phase having to build down large parts of these organisations. This was partly due to new technologies (e,g, in the communication transport area, production lines…) or given through new players like Cisco taking parts of the market. Interesting is to see that all my different employers like ITT, Alcatel, Siemens and Nokia Siemens have all been consolidated into Nokia.  Also included in Nokia are the North American suppliers  (Lucent and Nortel Networks)....

Also interesting to see that the two major western world companies remaining: Ericsson and Nokia, both have their roots in the Nordic countries where the successful evolution of the mobile market started…

In this phase i also had the luck to meet some great strategic thinking colleagues and am happy to have kept these contacts! But, however, it was a good feeling to start in a small organisation once again… In CoFounding and Building SilverEngine you can find my experiences from my last 9 years
